Gone are the days of the white wedding cake with bland frosting and chintzy design. Now, wedding cake designers are coming up elaborate designs to celebrate the couple on their wedding day.

I watch that show called Amazing Cakes and Cake Boss just to see what type of crazy designs these bakers can come up with. The assistants that work with them are often fine artists and painters who use their skill creating these cakes with flour, sugar, and fondant icing.

My favorite Cake Boss episode had the one with the casino-style cake for a mafia-looking group of guys. I don’t know if they were connected or not, but the episode definitely had the feel for that.

Such fun.

Later,

The New York Daily News is reporting that Sacha Baron Cohen has put his wedding plans on hold for the time being. Isla Fisher, Baron Cohen’s wife-to-be, has taken an inordinate amount of time to convert to Judaism, which she reportedly promised to do soon after the birth of their daughter, Olive.

Ms. Fisher has taken the time to shoot her latest movie, “Confessions of a Shopaholic”, but has not been able to fit the conversion into her schedule. Soon after her daughter’s birth, she plunged right back into her career, allegedly upsetting her future mother-in-law in the process.

Interfaith marriages are complicated, to say the least. There are so many feelings on both sides and it’s hard to decide which partner should convert to the other’s religion. Many times one half of the couple will convert to their spouse’s religion in order to keep their spiritual practices and rituals simple for their future children as they grow up.

When people promise to convert to a religion prior to their wedding day, they may feel a certain amount of pressure to do so. Some people will absolutely not get married to someone outside of their faith, which prompts their romantic partner to start the conversion process immediately. One might question if they are truly converting as a result of an awakening inside of their heart or are they only doing it to marry the person they love.

This can be tricky when it comes to building a relationship built on faith, trust and respect. If one person decides not to convert but desperately wants to marry the love of their life, will they be denied due to their religious differences? Do we need to be that rigid in our search for a life partner?

Some people say that marrying within their faith is very important to them and that they wouldn’t dream of doing otherwise. Others are a little more flexible with regards to their faith and only expect their life partner to respect their religious practices and participate when they feel so moved to do so.

It’s a personal decision for every couple, but I don’t think that there are any hard and fast rules. Each couple has to make the decision for themselves and they must have the courage and the patience to live with their decision.

Have a great one!

Some of the same considerations involved in selecting a photographer for your wedding photos also apply to choosing the right videographer. Wedding video, however, is a newer art than wedding photography, and the two forms of preserving your memories cannot really be lumped together when shopping for these professional services.

Nowadays, nearly everyone has a home video camera, and the quality of pictures they produce is quite good; better, in fact, than professional equipment could turn out just a few years ago. This has led many people to neglect the importance of using a professional videographer to record once-in-a-lifetime events. Yes, your friend Bob’s nifty new handy-dandy super camcorder can turn out some pretty good-looking stuff, but if you depend on friend Bob to provide your wedding video, you are setting yourself up to be sadly disappointed.

First of all, Bob’s new camera, while quite snazzy, still will not be up to the level of equipment the serious professional videographer will bring to your wedding. When shopping for video, ask the videographer to explain to you what a 3-chip camera is, and why it makes better video than a home camcorder. Also ask him about the various tape formats used by the pros…SVHS, HI8, Betacam, and get him to explain the advantages of these over standard home formats. Oh, and wouldn’t it be nice to have great sound quality on your video, so you can actually hear your wedding vows, and your music? Chances are pretty good that friend Bob won’t own the sophisticated wireless microphones the professional uses to record even a whisper.

Ever sat and watched Bob’s 6-hour production of Little Bobby’s Birthday Party? This brings us to one of the areas where the pros really excel, editing. No, editing is NOT “cutting out” or throwing away any of your wedding video. Editing is an almost magical process whereby the professional videographer refines and assembles the pictures he carefully gathered at your wedding into a polished, pleasing record of your wedding day. Every videographer has his own style, and there are as many types of wedding video available as there are videographers. Look at lots of sample videos, find the videographer with a style that pleases you, and with a personality you can be comfortable with for six or eight hours on your wedding day.

After your wedding is over, all you will have to help you remember a very important day will be your wedding photos and your wedding video. Select these professionals with care and you’ll never be sorry!

A great way for a couple to have some time alone and celebrate their marriage is to rent a honeymoon cabin. Cabins are nice for a honeymoon because they usually offer seclusion in a scenic area where the couple can relax and enjoy each other after the hectic pre-ceremony days. Cabins are also nice because they have all the amenities including kitchens so the couple can hideaway from the world for the full length of the honeymoon stay. For the couple who likes privacy and isolation a honeymoon cabin will be a great choice. There are many honeymoon cabins available for rent and the internet provides a good place to find the best cabin in a choice location.

The Smoky Mountains are beautiful and scenic. Planning a honeymoon to these mountains will be very memorable for the couple. These cabins come in a variety of sizes and offer different options with each cabin. Some of the cabins have heart shaped hot tubs and beds to increase the romance. These cabins are located near ski areas and such vacation attractions as Dollywood and Pigeon Forge. For a honeymoon in the Smoky Mountains this site may provide a good option for a cabin rental.

People who want to honeymoon in the mountains of the west coast will enjoy a visit to the resort location in Big Bear, California. There are a large number of cabins available in this area. Many of the cabins are privately owned but are available for rent. Some cabins on this site are in the woods and very secluded while others are located nearer to the town and Big Bear Lake. The cabins can be somewhat rustic or come with full amenities. The couple looking for a honeymoon cabin in the Big Bear area will be able to find what to fit their needs and desires. The Yellowstone area of Montana and Wyoming is a spectacular place for anyone to visit and sure to be a great honeymoon location. The Yellowstone National Park has several lodging facilities that are very nice but, for a more private location, a couple will want to look outside the park. Cabins can come with mountain bikes for the summer or snow mobiles for the winter. The honeymoon couple can stay in a secluded area and still have plenty to do.
